BMS students make air-compressed rockets in the school’s Maker Space.

In addition to granting money to Basalt public school teachers every late fall, Basalt Education Foundation also gives “administrator grants” in the spring. The principals at the three Basalt schools can apply specifically for money to support programs at their school that they deem a priority. This is where the administrator grants went this spring:

$15,000 to Basalt Elementary School for mini iPads, covers, carts, accessories, and professional-development resource books for teachers

$5,000 to Basalt Middle School for STEAM (Science, Tech, Engineering, Arts, Math) projects in the BMS Maker Space and for family event programming.

$15,000 to Basalt High School for the college counseling department, technology, and teacher professional development featuring training for teaching Advanced Placement classes. An additional $1,500 was earmarked specifically for the BHS pre-collegiate program.

This made our year-end giving approximately equal at each school for the 2014-15 school year.
