Raising funds to enhance education in Basalt public schools
Through our annual fundraisers, the Taste of Basalt and the Roaring Fork Charity Classic golf tournament, as well as generous corporate and community donations, we work directly with teachers and administrators to help the local elementary, middle and high schools deliver innovative, creative programming and experiences for every student.
Over the past two decades, BEF has contributed nearly $700,000 to the Basalt schools to support outdoor education, technology, literacy, hands-on science, art, music, and many other relevant and enriching programs for students. However, the need for additional funding is constant. Colorado currently ranks 43rd in the United States in per pupil funding. Our state spends $9,020 per student each school year, which is $2,715 less than the national average.* With every donation we receive, we can continue to assist our local schools in providing students with the highest quality education possible.
BEF is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, and all donations are tax-deductible per IRS guidelines. Our 18-member executive board includes school parents, business leaders and Basalt town staff.
"Thanks to BEF funding over several years, the World Affairs Challenge -- which promotes not only global learning and advanced research skills, but collaboration among students -- has become one of the signature programs in the BHS social studies department."
